Leadership

These are iMed’s officers who are committed to establishing a stable foundation for iMed’s future. They work together to achieve iMed’s mission of increasing health care access and preventing diseases for underserved and underprivileged children around the world. Their long-term vision is for iMed to be a catalyst that will help children achieve healthier and brighter futures by showing them the consequences of poor lifestyle choices and the ways they can live healthily. Be part of this vision, be involved! iMed’s Constitution can be found here!

Bogdan Rau - Secretary/Web Designer Bogdan Rau – President – 4th year Biological Sciences
As the President of iMed, I work with our leadership team to maintain our core projects that iMed was built upon, as well as develop new projects and events. I am the liaison between our faculty advisor, club members, community partners as well as other FIMRC chapters at the different colleges throughout the US.
Charisma Madarang - Chief Marketing Officer
Charisma Madarang - Vice President
As Vice President I aim to continue iMed’s reputation as one the leading
volunteer groups at UCI. My goal is to open iMed’s fantastic volunteering
opportunities to our student body. Whether it be traveling abroad to Peru
and Mexico or to places closer to home like our local elementary schools,
I want every student on campus to be able to take advantage of the life
changing experiences we offer.
Ilyssa Padua – Secretary
As Secretary of iMed, I help organize general and board meetings as well
as making sure the meetings run in a timely manner.  Also, I help
communicate to the club members about upcoming general meetings and the
different events that iMed has to offer.   As a board member of iMed, I
hope to extend the mission of our club which is to increase access to
medical care as well as to prevent diseases of underprivileged children in
our communities and around the world.  My participation in this club is
meaningful because I am able to help kids around the world who do not have
resources, but certainly have so much potential in their lives.
Mitri Khoury – Treasurer
As treasurer of iMed, I manage the club funds wisely and efficiently.  I
also work closely with the Fundraising Intern in planning and executing
fundraising events.  My position in the club is extremely vital since I
must play “devil’s advocate” whenever spending is proposed to make sure it
is done in a responsible and efficient manner.
Liliane Zaarour - Director of the Orphanage Project Parvita Panchal – Chief Marketing Office
As Chief Marketing Officer, I will be managing the overall promotion of the club. It is my responsibility to make sure that students are aware of the all the activities that are going on. You may see a lot of me around campus handing out flyers and boothing. My job is vital for the club because I will bring awareness to the students on what our club entails and what students can to do to participate in such a wonderful organization to help children. I will also be working alongside the Treasury to help promote and fund our fundraiser events and activities. My participation in this club is important to me because I want to be able to make a difference in the lives of the children. By getting plenty of volunteers, we can all elicit a change and help children, who are at a disadvantage, make healthier choices and goals for the future.
Liliane Zaarour - Director of the Orphanage Project Liliane Zaarour – Orphanage Project Coordinator
As Orphanage Project Coordinator, I conduct quarterly trips to Mexican orphanages with 15-20 volunteers. We plan and take fun games and demonstrations to show and prove to the children how important and fun hygiene really is! In addition to visiting the various Orphanages in Mexico, this project strives to raise funds to help build the orphanage homes we visit. Mother Teresa once said this on the topic of services to humanity, “Let us touch the dying, the poor, the lonely and the unwanted according to the graces we have received and let us not be ashamed or slow to do the humble work.” The thousands of children who are left on the streets living on their own or turned into Mexican orphanages everyday need us. We can help them by just loving them and showing them the true value of a real friendship. Join me in promoting the importance of hygiene as well as participating in an extraordinary service project, the iMed Orphanage Project!
Liliane Zaarour - Director of the Orphanage Project Visha Elango – HealthSmart Project Coordinator

Hi!!! My name is Visha Elango and I am this year’s Healthsmart Project Coordinator. I am very excited to work with volunteers this year to promote healthily habits and good hygiene among the young children at local elementary schools in Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, and Pomona school districts. We will create games, displays and interactive workshops to enforce the ideas of good habits such as brushing their teeth properly or the proper facts about drugs and alcohol use. I am very excited to work with new volunteers, and excited to get this project moving and bring it to the students at the elementary schools.

Ray Chu – Global Actions Project Coordinator

Hey, I’m Ray, this year’s Global Actions Coordinator. I’ll be in charge of arranging the opportunities for our members to volunteer abroad. This includes shadowing doctors and working in clinics as well as trying to bring our own projects out of the country. Last year we were able to educate over 2000 school aged kids about proper hygiene and applied fluoride to and even greater number of kids. This year I hope we can expand on our attempt to bring our projects abroad, so I’m excited to bring in many new volunteers who would like to help bring our mission abroad. Besides that, members will be getting great clinical experience with real stateside doctors. Those who want to pursue a career in healthcare will benefit from the experience but anyone who comes and volunteers will be doing a great service for the underserved and underprivileged abroad.
